What is home cleaning?
Home cleaning means removing dirt, dust, crumbs, pet hair, and spills from the floors of a house or apartment so the space is safe and pleasant to live in. The object of the work is the home's hard floors and carpets, and sometimes its countertops and tables; the result is a floor that is visibly free of debris and dry to the touch, with no streaks or residue left behind, and with any waste collected rather than left loose on the floor.
A finished job commonly covers the full living area without missing rooms, pays extra attention to spots that collect more dirt such as entryways and kitchens, and leaves carpets vacuumed deep enough to lift embedded grit, not just surface debris. Mopped floors must be left dry enough to walk on safely, and any cleaning solution used must be rinsed or wiped away rather than left as a film.
Current practice is for a person to vacuum and mop on a regular schedule, usually weekly, using a corded or cordless vacuum and a separate mop and bucket. Between full cleans, many households also tidy common areas by wiping surfaces and clearing dishes or trash after meals. A cleaning task is considered complete when the floor shows no visible dirt or stains, the collected waste has been emptied, and any tools used, such as a mop pad, are left clean and ready for the next use.
